THERE’S NO BETTER TIME than summer in New England. The Red Sox are in full swing, and not only do we celebrate Boston’s wonderful outdoor dining scene, but we also get to enjoy more of what our neighbors— Cape Cod, the Islands and Newport—have to offer. It’s prime time on the Vineyard and Nantucket, which kicked off the season with its wine festival and welcomed Todd English to The Summer House Restaurant. This year Shreve, Crump & Low set up shop on Main Street, its first store on Nantucket. And we’re pumped about the water shuttle that taxies guests between two popular Nantucket Island Resorts properties—The Wauwinet and White Elephant.

Even when it’s hot, we know that many of you like to stay fashionable, whether on the beach or in the city. Hence, we celebrated the launch of Jean Paul Gaultier’s new Le Male scent at 28 Degrees. It’s also a time to keep things simple, so we offer an up-close look at interior designers PlanetaBasque, who were among the design teams that created the haute look of the W Boston Residences model units, where we held our May/June home issue cover party.

Summer is all about staying cool, and there’s nothing cooler than a great event raising money for a great cause. The Celtics, Red Sox and Unicef raised funds for the children of Haiti; the Heart Ball did the same for the American Heart Association; and The Hot Pink Party supported breast cancer research. Now we’re looking forward to the Pan-Mass Challenge on August 7 and 8, one of the country’s largest athletic fundraisers, which benefits the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
